One of the best sites out on the
Web. About.com is a true subject directory. There are no external search engines available
for searching the web. Topics, information and links are gathered by human
editors, otherwise known as "guides". This individual, who acts as your personal guide,
finds links that relate to your preferred topic, gathers news and information, provides
opportunities to discuss your topic with others and fields questions. This really is the
place to go when you're looking for information on a hobby, have a question or just want
to learn more about a particular subject. The layout is clean, the guides are very helpful
and the information is up to date. about.com Top of page |

Dmoz has tapped into a very unique
concept -- a subject directory created by volunteers. This large directory vaunts
300,000+ categories along with over 29,000 registered editors. What does this mean
for its content? It's really heavy in popular areas and weak in not so popular
topics, little or no repetitiveness, and deep directories. dmoz.org
