One of the largest sources of genealogical data and research has been put online. This site conducts searches through Ancestral File (one of the world's largest collections of pedigrees and family group records with over 35 million records), International Genealogical Index (the world's largest collection of birth, christening, and marriage information with over 300 million records), Pedigree Resource File (a search repository of pedigrees compiled from submissions to the Family Search Internet Genealogy Service) and other genealogical resources. One of the best places to conduct your ancestral search.

One of the world's largest collections of family history data online. Ancestry.com not only offers search assistance but message boards, software and books as well. Membership to Ancestry.com does come with an annual price tag of at least $59.95. There are however some features that are free.

This site specializes in facilitating family research collaboration. FamilyHistory.com hosts over 90,000 family history message boards devoted to surnames and other genealogy related topics. If your search for information on a particular ancestor has come up fruitless, this is a great place to post your query and see if someone else can provide the answer.

The NARA has set up this site to help individuals find guides, aids, and research tools that will assist them in their genealogical research. This is not so much a search engine, but rather a resource with its handy guides, directions on using NARA records and lists of courses and workshops. The Genealogy Page is geared more towards those who have a familiarity with genealogical research.

This organization now serves over 17,000 members. Membership packages vary and the benefits include workshops, conferences and other amenities you can find by checking out this site.
